Access Intelligence Launching Conference on Business Side of Esports

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Rockville, Md. — A new conference aimed at the business end of the developing online gaming competitions known as esports will be launched in the fall by Access Intelligence.

Esports Business Summit (EBS) debuts Oct. 1-3 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The event targets executives of media companies, marketing firms and other companies looking to cash in on the boom in competitive online gaming.

The conference will focus on education and networking, although the packages for major sponsors also include a turnkey booth.

Access Intelligence is making EBS a collaborative effort among three of its content divisions:

  • Event Marketer
  • Chief Marketer
  • Cynopsis Sports

Leaders of the three brands have been tasked with developing the programming.

The education and networking agenda was still under development in March, but organizers will be focusing on business-related issues, such as marketing strategies, venue selection, and production technologies.

“This event is unique because it unites all sectors of the esports business and allows us to deliver a unique networking and discovery experience to both esports veterans and those just discovering the business potential of this rapidly growing industry,” said Chris Pursell, Director of Sports Content for Cynopsis Sports and leader of the content team for EBS.

The popularity and awareness of competitive video gaming has surged in recent years with well-attended tournaments staged at SXSW and E3. An awards program for the fledgling sport was launched last year by ESPN.
