Chicago -An index that will objectively measure the growth and performance of trade shows over the past four years will be the centerpiece of the Exhibition Industry Senior Executive Summit (EISES) on September 14, 2004 at the New Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. The Summit is being held in conjunction with CEIR’s Annual Golf Tournament on Sept. 13th and is expected to draw high-level executives from B-to-B publishing firms, show management organizations and associations, as well as investment bankers, analysts, venture capitalists, leading industry suppliers and the media from across the country.
The index measures year-over-year performance of the exhibition industry from four perspectives: number of attendees, exhibiting companies, net square feet of exhibit space and gross revenue. It has indicators of the trade show industry as a whole, and them breaks them out into three other primary classifications: industry sector, calendar quarter, and size (in net sq. ft. of exhibit space). These changes were aggregated, and translated into an “index value” using a base value of 100 in the year 2000.
In addition to the release of the CEIR Index, the Summit will include a press conference, lunch, presentations and a reception. After a welcome by CEIR Chairman Chuck Yuska, who is President of PMMI– the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute, presentations will include:
· “The 2005 Economic Outlook” featuring three renowned economists and strategists: Dr. John Silvia, Chief Economist for Wachovia Bank; Dr. Donald Norman, Manufacturers Alliance (MAPI); and GiGi Wang, Senior VP of Strategy for IDC;
