MADDY: In your free time, what do you do to slow down, de-stress and reset?
KINSEY: “I love exercising and I love being outside. So, I like to run outside; I like to walk outside. I like to play tennis a lot, because you cannot think about anything else when you’re playing tennis, except for tennis, and so that’s a really good way to clear your mind. I have two kids. I have a 12-year-old daughter and an 8-year-old son, and they are both involved in a lot of sports. One of the most stress-free things is going to their sporting events and watching them play sports. And they’re both super talented and just really amazing kids. My husband and I have a great time with them on the weekends, watching their soccer, basketball, baseball, football; that’s one of my favorite things.
MADDY: What is your favorite thing about your job?
KINSEY: I love most things that I do, it’s just so fun. Getting to be behind the scenes at CES is like a dream come true. It’s such a privilege getting to work with all of the wildly talented and smart people that I do at CTA. It’s a privilege getting to have an Executive Board with the best tech companies in the world and the smartest leaders of those companies. There’s so many things to be thankful for in my job, and all of it is pretty fun.

MADDY: Favorite CES memory?
KINSEY: There’s so many amazing CES memories, whether it’s different keynoters and who they’ve brought out on stage, or different products they’ve unveiled, I mean it is the most exciting show. It’s hard to pick just one, but I will give you just one. In 2010 Jillian Michaels was at CES and she was promoting BodyMedia, which is a wearable, and it was like one of the first wearables on the market, along with Fitbit, where consumers could quantify their own health and their own activity. They democratized health information and calorie input and activity level and steps in a major way. And I just thought that that was so cool and so impactful.
Then I actually got to meet Jillian Michaels and talk with her a little bit, and she was so cool. ‘Information is power.’ I’ll never forget Jillian Michaels said that to me, because she was talking about how she used the device on The Biggest Loser, and she said, ‘It’s transformed health and wellness, because I have information on each one of these individuals, and I can understand their activity level and what works for them and what doesn’t.’
She was like information is so powerful in health and wellness, and she was so right, and that just stuck with me. And she was also just like a motivational, inspiring, lovely human. And I’ve met many celebrities at CES and I think she might be one of my favorites.
MADDY: Can you tell us what areas of technology young professionals should keep their eye on?
KINSEY: Two things, because I love digital health, I’m going to say health and wellness tech. I think it’s so important to prioritize your own health and wellness, whether that’s your physical health, your mental health, just your general wellbeing. There are so many cool tech solutions that can do that, from if you’re training for a marathon, or if you just want to sleep better, or you want mental health support. There are telehealth therapy solutions that are phenomenal. So, I would say one tech that I think is really important is the category of health tech.
The other is AI. Generative AI is such an amazing tool, and it can make everyone more efficient and more productive. Don’t be afraid to use it. It is not cheating. You can use it to get started and to spark ideas and to even do a quick grammar check to be more efficient.
