USTA Will Launch ‘Trusted Traveler’ Program Later This Year

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Washington, DC – The U.S. Travel Association (USTA) said the long-awaited “trusted traveler” program will be launched at U.S. airports later this year. The program will allow frequent business travelers to qualify for expedited security screening at airports.

Applicants voluntarily supply background information to the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA), which then authorizes them to speed through the screening process.

TSA Administrator John Pistole told a U.S. Senate committee June 22 the agency is expecting to get the program off the ground as early as this Fall, according to USTA.
