Hong Kong, China – Michael Duck was promoted to executive vice president of UBM Asia effective June 1, the company announced May 17. Duck joined UBM in 1994 and is currently senior vice president of the Hong Kong-based show organizer. He has been instrumental in the growth of UBM Asia since its establishment in 1994. Over the last five years, Duck has played a crucial role in the rapid development of UBM India, growing the unit into a $20 million business with a healthy profit margin.
The newly created position will not result in changes to the organizational structure of UBM Asia, the company said. Duck will remain at the Hong Kong headquarters and continue to report to Jimé Essink, president & CEO of UBM Asia. Duck has been an active member of the trade show industry for several years. He was the first chairman of the Asia Chapter of UFI, the Global Association for the Exhibition Industry and is a director of the UFI Executive Board and serves on its Sustainability and Health & Safety Committee.
