CHICAGO — The annual Medical Show Report, compiled by Trade Show Executive (TSE), has recorded even growth for shows in that sector in 2024. The full report, available in TSE’s July issue, explicates upon net square footage (nsf), exhibitors, attendance and show highlights for events focused on medicine and the medical industry.
The Medical Show Report features data from 59 different events. Of this total, 41 increased nsf, with 15 seeing double digit growth in that metric. Number of exhibiting companies went up at 40 conferences, with 16 reporting double-digit advances. Attendance climbed at 38 shows, 19 of which recorded double-digit rates of improvement. Professional attendance achieved a boost at 29 gatherings with double-digit gains at 12 of these.

TSE adjusts the total dataset to remove outliers and shows without a consecutive two-year comparison, and once adjusted, 2024’s medical shows accounted for a total of 5,363,846 nsf, 18,698 exhibitors, 696,767 overall attendees and 438,192 professional attendees. The average show in the adjusted group spanned 94,103 nsf, hosted 322 exhibitors, brought in 12,224 attendees, 8,764 of which were professionals. Comparing the medical events of 2024 to 2023, nsf rose by 1.8%, exhibitors bumped up by 2.9%, total attendance was lifted by 0.4% and professional attendance slid by (0.5)%.

Two conventions stood out as growth leaders in the medical sector in 2024: Alzheimer’s Association International Conference and ACFAS Scientific Conference. The Alzheimer’s Association International Conference ranked number one by blended growth according to TSE’s data, with a 40.6% improvement. The event established 55.5% growth in the nsf category and 50.5% more exhibiting companies, which contributed to the strong blended growth figure. ACFAS reported a 17.8% increase in nsf, a 19.2% uptick in exhibitors and a 54.4% jump in total attendance, which gave the show a blended growth percentage of 30.5% and established it as the number two event by that metric.
