New York, NY – The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) placed Tim McGuinness, staff vice president, global trade expositions, in charge of the organization’s events portfolio as part of a reorganization of the association’s events department.
The reorganization also included the retirement of Phyllis Peterson. Peterson stepped down as director of leasing/dealmaking, capping a 33-year career with ICSC.
McGuinness, a former Reed Exhibitions executive, will lead the team that oversees events that include RECon, the commercial real estate exhibition held annually at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The department will be involved in show sales and operations.
Attendance at the Las Vegas RECon event in 2009 was approximately 30,000 with 757,442 net square feet (nsf) of exhibit space, compared to roughly 50,000 attendees and 967,638 nsf in 2008. Last year and 2007 were considered record years for the show.
