NEW YORK — The Institutes, an insurance and risk-management knowledge firm, has acquired three conferences from LRP Media Group that will expand its portfolio into the workplace-injury specialty.
The events that changed hands are as follows:
  • National Workers’ Compensation and Disability Conference & Expo (NWCDC)
  • Risk & Insurance
  • National Ergonomics Conference & ErgoExpo.
JEGI | CLARITY represented Florida-based LRP in the negotiations.
The Institutes is the provider of numerous professional certifications for the insurance industry, including Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter and Associate in Risk Management, as well as several educational and training programs. The LRP conferences will open the door for The Institutes to tap into the workplace safety and ergonomics specialties, according to Peter Miller, President and CEO of The Institutes. “Acquiring these platforms will not only enhance our content, but also expand our ability to effectively deliver our content by gaining a better understanding of individuals’ risk-management and insurance-knowledge preferences,” he said.
Matthew Kahn, President of the three-show group, will join The Institutes along with other show staff. “Joining The Institutes is beyond exciting for our entire team,” he said. “Our shared values on the importance of knowledge and education create the core of our organizational synergies while The Institutes’ long-term commitment will enable us to expand our digital platforms and develop some very exciting and innovative approaches at our events.”
The NWCDC conference is billed as the largest conference and trade show for the workers’ compensation industry. This year’s event was held Nov. 6-8 in Las Vegas with an estimated 250 exhibitors and more than 4,500 attendees. Next year’s edition takes place Oct. 21-23 at McCormick Place in Chicago. The National Ergonomics Conference & ErgoExpo takes place Aug. 25-28, 2020, at the new Caesars Forum in Las Vegas.
