The Hospitality Show Stacks Its Second Iteration with Star Power

NEW YORK — The buzz is building as guest speakers and programming are announced for the upcoming The Hospitality Show, which will be held this Oct. 28-30 at the Henry B. González Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas.

The Hospitality Show, produced by Questex and the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA), will feature keynote session speaker José Andrés, Founder of World Central Kitchen and an award-winning chef. Since 2010, non-profit World Central Kitchen has been specializing in providing food relief to those affected by natural and humanitarian disasters, delivering more than 350 million meals worldwide.

The keynote address, titled “Changing the World Through the Power of Food,” will focus on Andrés’ belief in positive change as well as his assertion that food is a basic human right. Andrés has been named one of Time’s “100 Most Influential People” in 2012 and 2018 and was named by the James Beard Foundation an “Outstanding Chef” and “Humanitarian of the Year.”

Last year, the show debuted in Las Vegas, drawing more than 3,500 attendees and 300 vendors, selling out the show’s vendor space. According Questex Hospitality, Travel & Wellness President Alexi Khajavi, last year’s sold-out status of vendor space in its inaugural year was a “remarkable accomplishment.” He said in a statement that this year and into the future, “The Hospitality Show will be an unforgettable event, delivering unmatched opportunities for growth, learning, and networking.”

Now in its second year, The Hospitality Show will feature an expo floor with more than 400 vendors and a conference program with more than 100 top industry leaders who will offer insights and input on maximizing profitability and leading efficient operations. Exhibitors include Oracle Hospitality, LG Electronics USA, GE Appliances, Cox Business, Clean the World, and Relay Robotics, among others.

Three stages will address issues facing hoteliers including shifting customer expectations, workforce and stakeholder alignment, and franchising and brand differentiation best practices.

Sessions will include “Charting Profitable Paths in Uncertain Times,” offering tips on how hotel managers can stay profitable despite economic headwinds. “Intentional Innovation: AI Meets ROI,” will focus on how to modernize operations led by those in the industry who are incorporating AI into their business strategies.

Another session, “Green to Gold: Sustainability as Profit,” will teach attendees how going green can also lead to increasing profits. Experts will discuss the economic benefits of sustainable practices in the hospitality industry, from energy-efficient operations to waste reduction and eco-friendly amenities.

AHLA is the largest hotel association in America, representing more than 30,000 members from all segments of the industry nationwide. Questex brings people together in the markets of travel, hospitality and wellness.
