IRVING, Texas — The Expo Group has made a major expansion in the Florida and Southeast market by acquiring Allied Convention Service Inc., the owner of a major distribution center strategically located not far from the bustling Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) in Orlando.
The 160,000-square-foot building and marshalling yard gives The Expo Group a fourth distribution hub in the United States; the other three are located in Chicago, Las Vegas, and the company’s home base of Irving, Texas. The center is “moments away” from the OCCC, one of the largest and busiest convention centers in the nation.
“This acquisition expands The Expo Group’s service capabilities in an important region and brings together top personnel in this business,” said Randy Pekowski, President & COO of The Expo Group. “This is an extenuation of our long-term corporate strategy to grow in the right places at the right time with the right people.”
Allied had a tight business relationship with Brede Exposition Services in Orlando that is widely known in the trade show industry as Brede/Allied. Brede retains its offices and operations in Arizona, Washington, Boston, Colorado, and Minneapolis markets. “Brede Exposition Services will continue to operate its other locations,” The Expo Group said in a written statement. “The Expo Group and Brede have long enjoyed a cooperative business relationship that is expected to continue as The Expo Group integrates Allied in Orlando.”

Correction: An article originally published on January 19 on TSE’s website misstated that Brede Exposition Services was also part of Expo Group’s acquisition of Orlando-based Allied Convention Service, Inc. Brede Exposition Services will continue as before in its other five locations under the Brede brand name. TSE regrets this error.
