San Jose, CA – The City of San Jose put the director of the city’s airport in charge of Team San Jose, the agency that oversees its convention center.
Bill Sherry was named CEO of Team San Jose and will have oversight over sales and marketing for the San Jose McEnery Convention Center as well as the planned expansion and renovation of the facility. Sherry replaced Dan Fenton, who resigned last year.
Sherry will work closely with David Costain, the recently hired chief operating officer of Team San Jose. He will also remain in his current position as airport director of Mineta-San Jose International Airport.
Sherry was in charge of a recent $1.4 billion renovation of the airport terminals, an experience that should come in handy if the city goes ahead with a proposed $120 million upgrade of the convention center that would roughly double its exhibit space to 300,000 square feet.
