Taffy Events Strategies to Manage APWA’s PWX Event

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

ARLINGTON, Va. — Management of next year’s American Public Works Association’s (APWA) PWX Event will be turned over to Taffy Event Strategies.

Taffy will manage show sales, operations and exhibitor marketing for the 2019 edition of PWX, which will take place in Seattle in September. The event will include a full conference agenda for public works officials and executives, as well as an exhibit floor projected at about 80,000 net square feet (nsf).

While no major changes to the show’s format and schedule were planned, the association was bullish on the prospects for the event and working with Taffy and its seasoned show-management team. “APWA is excited to begin a new partnership with the creative professionals at Taffy Events Strategies,” APWA Director of Meetings Diana Forbes said. “Taffy will be conducting exhibit and sponsorship sales and will also provide operational support for the exhibit program. We’re looking forward to the new and promising relationship with Taffy and excited to see what new opportunities we might create together.”

The APWA is based in Kansas City, Mo., and provides certification to public works officials in infrastructure, stormwater and vehicle fleet management. The association also organizes the annual Snow Management Conference, which was not included in the new partnership with Taffy.

After more than 100 years, the annual PWX show was rebranded and launched in Minneapolis in 2015 and quickly caught on with APWA’s target audience. The inaugural event drew about 5,000 attendees from 17 nations and about 400 exhibitors. “APWA’s membership includes public sector professionals at all levels of government, plus individuals representing all areas of the public works industry,” Forbes said. “The attendees at PWX represent a ‘Who’s Who’ of the public works industry.”

“We are excited to work with APWA on PWX,” Taffy President Jennifer Hoff said. “We are looking forward to growing the show floor and the sponsorship program and developing a solid and long-lasting partnership with APWA.”

Meanwhile, this year’s show takes place Aug. 26-29 at the Kansas City Convention Center. The APWA projected exhibit space at nearly 90,000 nsf.
