CHICAGO — With Earth Day just around the corner, April is all about sustainability. From highlighting sustainability strategies to showcasing Earth Day celebrations to keeping the industry up to date with certifications, Trade Show Executive (TSE) is working to keep industry leaders in the know on what’s new in sustainability — because it’s not just nice to have, it’s a must-have element of event design. In honor of this month’s theme around sustainability, TSE is highlighting the events and companies that have been certified by the Events Industry Council for their sustainability efforts.
Sustainable Shows Certified by Events Industry Council
The Events Industry Council (EIC) certifies events and organizations at the levels of Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum to represent their sustainability initiatives’ impacts. The certifications are based on the EIC Sustainable Event Standards, which are made up of eight specific standards, including:
- Accommodation
- Audio Visual & Production
- Destination
- Event Organizer
- Exhibitions Services
- Food & Beverage
- Integrated Property
- Venue
Certifications are awarded based on percentage of completion and the maximum number of points for each sector, with Platinum requiring 90%, Gold requiring 80%, Silver requiring 65% and Bronze requiring 50%.
