New York — Steve Weitzner, who most recently served as chairman and CEO of Ziff Davis Enterprise, has joined Summit Business Media as CEO. Weitzner replaces former CEO Andy Goodenough, who left the company last October. CFO Thomas Flynn had been acting as interim CEO during the executive search, and he has returned to his original role.
Summit produces about a dozen conferences and trade shows serving the insurance, financial services, legal and investment advisory markets. Summit’s largest events include the Investing in African Mining Indaba, the Senior Market Advisor Expo and the Benefits Selling Expo. In addition, Summit operates 20 websites and publishes 16 magazines and 150 reference titles.
Weitzner has more than 30 years of B-to-B media experience in a variety of roles at UBM/CMP Media, Hearst Business Communications and McGraw-Hill.
“Steve Weitzner is one of the most experienced CEOs in B-to-B media, with a proven track record in dealing with the industry’s most pressing challenges as well as its upside opportunities,” said Charles G. McCurdy, chairman of Summit’s Board of Directors. [McCurdy is also CEO of George Little Management.] “We look forward to working closely with Steve as he and a strong management team move Summit into its next phase of growth with unique services that address marketplace needs while building a clear competitive advantage in the markets we serve.”
