Stagnito Acquires Five Canadian Shows from Fulcrum Media

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Deerfield, IL – Stagnito Business Information has acquired a five-show portfolio of trade events for the retail pharmacy and convenience store sectors from Canadian publisher and show organizer Fulcrum Media.

Stagnito, which was advised by Corporate Solutions in the negotiations, also picked up a roster of Fulcrum publications and websites serving the same sectors. Stagnito said the deal bolsters the company’s position in the overall North American market.

Terms of the deal were not announced. The five trade shows acquired by Stagnito all serve the Canadian market and include:

  • Pharmacy U
  • Convenience U CARWACS Show – Toronto
  • Convenience U CARWACS Show – Calgary
  • Le Salon – Montreal
  • Canadian Coffee & Tea Show

Stagnito, based outside Chicago, currently owns the Convenience Store News and Progressive Grocer brands as well as other titles and events in the convenience store genre, which President/CEO Harry Stagnito said is becoming increasingly horizontal as stores expand their service offerings. “Convenience Store News is a leading B-to-B resource for retailers and suppliers,” he said. “Adding two major c-store media brands – plus Canada’s largest c-store trade show – extends our leadership position even further and allows us to bring our audiences and customers greatly enhanced information and marketing opportunities throughout North America.”

Fulcrum divested its entire portfolio of B-to-B exhibitions with the sale to Stagnito. The Toronto-based company remains focused on consumer events.
