INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — SEMI, a leading global microelectronics industry association, announced the launch of SEMIEXPO Heartland, a new event that will drive innovation and collaboration in the semiconductor industry, especially in smart manufacturing and smart mobility.

The show’s inaugural edition will be held April 1-2, 2025, at the Indiana Convention Center and rotate between Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.

“SEMIEXPO Heartland will serve as a key platform to accelerate innovation and collaboration within the semiconductor industry,” Sandy Chapin, CEM, Director of Exhibitions & Events at SEMI Americas, said. “By bringing together stakeholders from across the supply chain, the event will drive discussions and partnerships that can propel technological advancements and strengthen the ecosystem.”

A Strong Launchpad

The growing importance of the U.S. Midwest to the semiconductor industry inspired the show, while Chapin believes that the region’s strong automotive electronics aftermarket and manufacturing communities will serve as key success factors.

SEMI completed a competitive analysis of similar industry events and identified a gap in the market, specifically in the microelectronics sector. It expects the event to attract both participants of other SEMI events and new attendees and exhibitors.

“As with our other expositions and conferences, SEMI seeks to connect local participants with our broader regional and global membership,” Chapin explained. “This approach aims to broaden our reach and foster new collaborations within the semiconductor industry.”

Chapin shared that Purdue University, the Applied Research Institute, the Indiana Economic Development Council and Visit Indy are sponsors for the event.

SEMI is developing SEMIEXPO Heartland’s programming in partnership with advisory committees composed of member companies and plans to offer a Workforce Development Pavilion on the show floor.

The organization is using a strategic, multi-channel marketing approach to reach potential exhibitors and attendees with targeted digital advertising, email campaigns and social media outreach. SEMI is also working with its member companies and partners, regional economic development organizations and industry networking events to drive participation.

Growing in the Heartland

According to Chapin, this show will extend SEMI America’s reach in the Midwest.

“It enhances our engagement with automotive electronics and manufacturing communities while tapping into emerging opportunities unique to the region. Ultimately, it positions SEMI to further support members in a rapidly changing industry landscape, creating new avenues for growth and impact,” Chapin explained. “Overall, SEMIEXPO Heartland’s inaugural edition is expected to serve as a significant platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange and networking among industry leaders, policymakers and innovators in the semiconductor and related sectors. We’re excited to help members from across the SEMI Americas region build connections in the Midwest.”
