Ryan Strowger Joins IAAPA as VP of Exhibitions, Conferences and Sales

Washington, DC – After a 12-year stint at the Consumer Electronic Association (CEA), Ryan Strowger will join the International Association for Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) as vice president, exhibitions, conferences and sales later this month. Most recently, Strowger served as director, business development, for CEA, producer of the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which ranked No. 1 on the TSE Gold 100 last year.

In 2010, International CES attracted more than 126,641 attendees and 2,491 exhibiting companies covering 1.4 million nsf. By comparison, the IAAPA Attractions Expo 2010 Annual Conference & Exhibition, which ranked No. 29 on the TSE Gold 100 last year, attracted 25,000 attendees and 1,140 exhibiting companies, covering 453,100 nsf.

At CEA, Strowger was responsible for the growth of the CES exhibitor base through strategic alliances, exhibitor sales and service, creation of integrated marketing solutions, and helping direct a team of sales professionals.

Strowger replaces Pete Barto, who left IAAPA in April after seven years. Barto now serves as senior account executive for Network Media Partners.

Before joining CEA, Strowger worked at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) as exhibit sales manager for three years and at the Environmental Industry Associations as manager, expositions, for four years.

He has been an active member of the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) and currently serves on its board of directors. Strowger has attained the Certified in Exhibition Management (CEM) designation, and he received the IAEE Merit Award in 2004 for his contributions to the industry.
