CHICAGO — The annual Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting delivered on its reputation as the global epicenter for radiology professionals, with nearly 40,000 attendees — radiologists, imaging scientists, and industry leaders — convening in Chicago December 1-4 for five days of education, discovery and networking. This year’s theme was, “Building Intelligent Connections” highlighting radiology’s unique relationship with AI.
AI applications were strongly represented both in the scientific program and throughout the exhibit halls. The AI Showcase was the premier place for attendees to connect with over 100 companies offering next-level radiology AI software and products, to see the possibilities of AI firsthand in the RSNA AI Theater, and to network with AI industry leaders and colleagues.
“As the world’s largest medical imaging forum, the RSNA annual meeting continues to deliver an unparalleled scientific program, a variety of opportunities for professional networking and career advancement, and access to the latest in medical imaging technologies and solutions designed to enhance patient care,” John P. Jaworski, CEM, RSNA Assistant Executive Director of RSNA Meeting Services & Corporate Relations, said.
Held in McCormick Place, more than 722 exhibitors could be found across 412,600 square feet. In addition, there were 139 first-time RSNA exhibitors.
Researchers submitted more than 860 scientific papers. There were also more than 1,700 scientific posters, more than 1,500 education exhibits, more than 300 educational courses and seven plenary sessions.

New this year was a one-day showcase in the North Hall, featuring new exhibitors each day. Also new, RSNA offered guided tours through the technical exhibits to allow attendees to connect with industry leaders during a “VIP look at cutting-edge technology and equipment.”
Attendees had the opportunity to create their schedules and access session information with Meeting Central and the RSNA 2024 meeting app.
There was a chance to give back during the meeting as RSNA’s Health Equity Committee organized the assembly of winter kits for donation to Chicago nonprofit, Cradles to Crayons.
Sustainability was a focus too. “RSNA is committed to hosting a sustainable annual meeting. For more than two decades, we have been updating our processes and making changes to ensure the biggest week in radiology is environmentally mindful and socially responsible,” said Jaworski.
