Rob Mesirow Disconnecting from CTIA after 17 Years

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Washington, DC – In an unexpected announcement, Rob Mesirow said that he was stepping down as vice president of operations at CTIA, The Wireless Association, after 17 years.

Mesirow said that he would remain with the association in an advisory capacity through the end of the year, but would exit the CTIA headquarters in Washington, DC as of November 4.

“This association has been at the forefront of every major mobile event since the inception of the wireless industry, and it’s been a great ride,” Mesirow said. “As I will be staying in the industry, I hope to see and work with you all in the near future.”

Mesirow was featured on the cover of the June 2015 issue of Trade Show Executive (TSE) and was the guest of honor at the live version of Power Lunch at the 2015 TSE Fastest 50 Awards & Summit. He filled in his colleagues about the merger of the CTIA’s two primary trade shows – Spring CTIA Wireless and Fall MobileCON – into one new event dubbed CTIA Super Mobility. The new mega show debuted in Las Vegas in 2014 with 30,000 attendees and 290,446 net square feet of exhibit space.

“It was a great re-imagination of the marketplace,” Mesirow, who was integral in the merger, told TSE. “We got our arms around all of the vertical markets that will comprise, at least initially, the new wireless industry ecosystem.”

CTIA had no immediate comment on Mesirow’s departure or their plans to fill his shoes.
