Resort Executive Paul Noland to Head IAAPA

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Alexandria, VA – The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) named R. Paul Noland, a former senior executive with Marriott and Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, its new president and CEO.

Noland, an active member of IAAPA for several years, stepped into the position January 1 and replaced James “Chip” Cleary, who moved on to a new job in the theme park industry. He worked with Cleary in the closing months of 2012 to ensure a smooth transition.

Noland was with Disney from 1995 to 2011 and was most recently the principal and CEO of the consulting firm RPN Associates. While with Disney, he rose to senior vice president, global business development.

Prior to Disney, Noland spent 11 years as a senior executive with Marriott International.

Noland was a member of the IAAPA board of directors from 2009 to 2012. He was chairman of the association’s audit committee and an advisor to the strategic planning committee.

IAAPA organizes the annual IAAPA Attractions Expo, which ranked 32nd on the most recent Trade Show Executive Gold 100 roster of largest U.S. trade shows.
