Danica Tormohlen, Editor-at-large

NORWALK, Conn. — Randy Field has been promoted to Group Vice President, Portfolio Leader for Reed Exhibitions (RX) Americas. He will be responsible for eight event brands, including The National Hardware Show, INTERPHEX, BUILDINGSNY, ALUMINUM USA, BAR CONVENT BROOKLYN, Fastener Fair USA, FIBO USA and ICE USA.

Most recently, Field had been serving as Reed’s Group Vice President, Customer Experience & Operations Technology, for the last three years.

“As a Portfolio GVP, my day to day will shift toward managing a team of excellent event leaders, as well as direct P&L responsibility and strategy for eight shows, which will include seeking organic growth opportunities and identifying potential acquisition targets,” Field told Trade Show Executive. “I hope to carry my experience from the functional and digital side of the business into my day-to-day focus with industry portfolio leaders to continue to build on their tremendous successes to date.”

The largest show in Field’s portfolio, The National Hardware Show (NHS), ranked No. 22 on the Trade Show Executive Gold 100 Class of 2018. Last year, NHS drew 30,897 industry professionals and 2,145 exhibiting companies covering 600,500 net square feet of paid exhibit space to the Las Vegas Convention Center in May. Held May 8-10, the 2019 event featured more than 2,800 exhibitors, which included 500+ new exhibiting companies and 100+ inventors. The 75th anniversary event will be held May 5-7, 2020, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Field joined Reed in 2005 as Director of Registration & Client Services. Since then, Field’s responsibilities have consistently grown. He created and led the Customer Success, Product Management, and Sponsorship Fulfillment teams. In 2016, Field took on the RX Central Marketing, Web Development and Design, and Digital Technology responsibilities to form the broader group now referred to as the RX Customer Experience team.

“Randy has a history of building and leading successful teams,” said Hervé Sedky, President of RX Americas. “He is a positive leader who is committed to culture, collaboration and career development.  I am very confident is his ability to transition to portfolio leadership, bringing his deep understanding of the business to contribute in new ways.”

In addition to his new commercial and portfolio responsibilities, Field will continue to lead Digital Technology at RX. He will be responsible for innovating and enhancing products and services to drive customer value.

“When it comes to technology, I firmly believe we need to be leaders,” Field said. “I’m proud of the innovations our digital teams have delivered with our show teams and strategic digital partners over the years. Reed was one of the first large show organizers to deliver robust mobile apps for events, but we pushed the envelope by offering turn-by-turn directions for customers and continued to push by creating some of the first true indoor geo-location to help our customers navigate the show floor.  What our digital team is delivering on the foundation of these tools today is remarkable, and I look forward to seeing that innovation continue … stay tuned!”

Field will report to RX Chief Operating Officer Yancy Weinrich. RX, which is part of RELX Group, produces more than 500 events in over 30 countries. In 2018, Reed events brought together more than 7 million event participants, according to the company. With 41 offices around the globe, RX serves 43 industry sectors with trade and consumer events in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific and Africa.
