LONDON — Reed Exhibitions is adding to its India offerings. The company acquired PackPlus, a portfolio of leading trade fairs serving the packaging industry in India.

PackPlus was formally launched in Delhi in 2006. The next edition of PackPlus Delhi will be held Aug. 28-31 at the Pragati Maidan venue which offers 625,000 square meters (6.72 million sf) of exhibition space. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Previously owned by Next Events, PackPlus, has become India’s largest dedicated gathering of trade professionals in the packaging industry. Because of its success, the PackPlus portfolio expanded and now includes events such as PackPlus South in Hyderabad and the India Packaging Show in Mumbai.

The PackPlus acquisition marks Reed Exhibition’s third deal in India this year. It follows other deals that strengthened Reed Exhibition’s assortment of India-based events, including Big7 in March and Mack Brooks in February. The addition of PackPlus also bolsters Reed’s other packaging shows already within its global portfolio including Eurasia, PackCon and Sinocorrugated.

The addition of PackPlus increases Reed Exhibitions’ portfolio to more than 500 events across 30 countries.

“For a long time we were intrigued by the evolution and progress of PackPlus, and we are delighted to take the baton and add our global experience, energy and resources to this exciting portfolio,” said Gregory Zaraisky, CEO of Reed Exhibitions India.

Anil Arora, President of Next Events, said he and his wife Neetu are proud of PackPlus, which they developed and helped build. “PackPlus was and remains our passion, and we are very happy to see the same passion in Reed Exhibitions,” said Arora.
