Frankfurt, Germany – Reed Exhibitions and Messe Frankfurt agreed to merge and co-locate two European trade shows for the stage and event technology industry. Reed’s SHOWTECH and Messe Frankfurt’s Prolight + Sound will be held together each year in Frankfurt starting next month. The 2015 SHOWTECH scheduled for Berlin will be cancelled. SHOWTECH had been held annually in Berlin and Prolight + Sound in Frankfurt, often only a few weeks apart.
“Industry leader meets industry leader in a move that executes the bundling of the market into just one trade fair venue, which is so often demanded by both exhibitors and visitors,” said Stephan Kurzawski, senior vice president of Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH. “It is a change that can only benefit the entire sector.”
Messe Frankfurt’s Prolight + Sound has traditionally focused on equipment for specific segments of the market, including lighting, audio and systems technology. The 2013 show included 893 exhibitors and more than 42,700 attendees.
SHOWTECH caters to a broader audience of stage production specialists and last year drew 311 exhibitors and 7,500 attendees.
