Mexico City, Mexico – Rafael Hernandez has been elected president of the Mexican Association of Professionals of Fairs, Expositions and Conventions, A.C. (AMPROFEC). Hernandez is director general and CEO of NuestroMundo Global Media and serves as Trade Show Executive’s advertising director for Latin America.

He spent the past six years on the AMPROFEC board as vice president of services and public relations. “I am honored to be elected President of the Mexican Trade Show Association (AMPROFEC),” Hernandez said. “My goals during my term are to strengthen ties with the global exhibition market, particularly the U.S., and expand the membership base and services of AMPROFEC.”

AMPROFEC is an industry association for Mexico’s trade show organizers. It is an industry partner of the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) and to date has helped 70 Mexicans attain the Certified Event Manager (CEM) certification.

Hernandez said the association was also developing the first comprehensive study of Mexican trade show statistics with the assistance of the Center for Exhibition Industry Research and its Census. “We also have support from the Mexico Tourism Board and the Mexico Tourism Authority to focus on education and certification programs, which are a key driver of growth of the trade show market in Mexico and Latin America,” he said.

Hernandez was elected to replace the current president, Jaime Salazar, at the association’s annual meeting on March 17.

The other members of the AMPROFEC board of directors include: Hugo Rosas Guzman, treasurer; Mariana Albarran Rodriguez, secretary; Carlos Perez Marrufo, vice president; Giselle Chavez Carmona, vice president; Jorge Arizmendi Velasco, vice president; Alejandro Gutierrez de Velasco, vice president; Jose Luis Saavedra, executive director.
