Photo Marketing Association’s Show Postponed Until January; Will Co-Locate at CES

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Las Vegas, NV – The Photo Marketing Association International (PMA) is calling off its September trade show in Las Vegas and will move it to January when it will be co-located with the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES).

The PMA International Convention and Trade Show, also known as CliQ 2011, will be renamed PMA@CES under the partnership agreement signed by the two associations. The new event will be held at the Venetian. Organizers declined to provide figures on exhibit space, although the 2010 show in Anaheim drew 8,268 buyers and 4,990 exhibitor attendees.

Organizers said the continuing evolution of digital photography favored a closer connection between photographers and electronics consumers. “Technology is speeding the convergence of digital photography and home entertainment systems,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association.

Ted Fox, executive director of the PMA, called the agreement “an excellent example of two trade associations coming together to proactively address challenges and provide new opportunities.”
