PACK EXPO’s Jim Pittas to Succeed Charles Yuska as head of PMMI

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Reston, Va. – Jim Pittas was promoted to COO of PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, in April and was also named the successor to President and CEO Charles Yuska when Yuska retires in 2018.

Pittas, who was most recently Senior Vice President of PMMI, has been with the association for 17 years and is the longtime leader of its PACK EXPO portfolio. He will step into Yuska’s role in May 2018 when Yuska wraps up his tenure at PMMI after 28 years. “Jim has been involved as a member of my leadership team for years,” said Yuska. “He has grown the PACK EXPO brand from a single annual event to a portfolio of shows occurring throughout the year and across North America. I feel very strongly that Jim is well fit to build on our past success and lead PMMI to a bright and prosperous future.”

PMMI organizes seven PACK EXPO-branded shows in North America and this Spring launched ProFood Tech at McCormick Place. The biennial ProFood Tech is joint effort of PMMI, Germany’s Koelnmesse GmbH and the International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA). The April 4-6 show drew more than 440 exhibitors and 150,000 net square feet (nsf) of exhibit space.

The flagship PACK EXPO International and co-located Pharma EXPO held in Chicago last year set a show record with 2,512 exhibitors spread over an unprecedented 1.25 million nsf of exhibit space. This Fall’s PACK EXPO Las Vegas/Healthcare Packaging Expo is on track to sell out with more than 800,000 net square feet (nsf) of exhibit space. The 2015 edition of the biennial packaging show totaled 843,435 nsf and was ranked No. 10 on the most-recent Trade Show Executive Gold 100 rankings.
