NSSF Brings SHOT Show Sales In-House; Hires Two from Reed

DANICA TORMOHLEN, EDITOR-AT-LARGE

Newtown, CT – After terminating its management contract with Reed Exhibitions in May, the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), producer of the annual SHOT Show, has announced it will bring exhibit and sponsorship sales in-house. NSSF has hired two former Reed executives who worked on the show. Dave Jeannette will serve as NSSF’s senior director, sales, and Chris Tatulli will serve as director, exhibit and sponsorship sales.

Reed managed the SHOT Show for more than three decades. Reed’s decision to restrict the sale of certain types of firearms this year at its consumer hunting and fishing show — an event unrelated to NSSF and the SHOT Show — was in conflict with NSSF’s mission to serve the shooting sports industry. As a result, both organizations decided it was in the best interest of the SHOT Show to end their relationship.

“During this transition, it is important to maintain continuity for our customers so that their SHOT Show experience continues to meet their expectations,” said Chris Dolnack, NSSF senior vice president and chief marketing officer.

Jeannette has worked on the SHOT Show for more than 20 years. Most recently, he served as the event director. Tatulli brings nearly 15 years of experience in the trade show business. He has worked on the SHOT Show for the last two years.

Both will support the SHOT Show and other NSSF events, including the Shooting Sports SummitImport/ Export Conference, national and regional firearms retailer and shooting range conferences and NSSF’s Congressional Fly-In.

The SHOT Show — the Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show – ranked No. 16 on the Trade Show Executive Gold 100 in 2012. The 2014 SHOT Show will be held January 14-17 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas.
