Nielsen Business Media Sells Food Group to Stagnito

Deerfield, IL – Stagnito, Inc. acquired Nielsen Business Media’s Retail Food Group with plans to leverage the brands into integrated media offerings for the supermarket, convenience store and specialty food sectors.

The deal announced March 8 was the latest asset sale by Nielsen Business Media and marked the re-entry of Stagnito into the grocery market. “Our goal is to introduce a new business model to the food market to take advantage of the trend towards targeted and measurable integrated media,” said Harry Stagnito, President/CEO, Stagnito, Inc.

The Retail Food Group organizes various small-scale conferences and includes the Progressive Grocer print brand as well as Convenience Store NewsThe Gourmet Retailer and Convenience Store News for the Single Store Owner.  The acquisition also includes two directories and databases for the retail sector. “We are excited about re-entering the food industry with such highly recognized and respected food media brands,” Stagnito said.

Included under the The Gourmet Retailer and Convenience Store News brands are shows Retail 2020 and Hispanic Retail 360 Summit, respectively. Any plans for new launches or joint ventures with other events were not immediately revealed.
