NEW YORK — The 45th annual New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists (NYSCC) Suppliers’ Day, held May 1-2, reported record-breaking attendance in 2024, with 11,085 registrants representing 72 countries. This is a nearly 8% increase in overall attendance from last year, and a more than 35% increase when compared to the event’s attendance after it first moved to New York City in 2017.
The show’s sold-out exhibit space at the Javits Center spanned 103,000 net square feet and featured 567 exhibiting companies, including 139 new exhibitors.
Its technical and marketing education programs were visited by 523 conference delegates, their largest audience to date. Additionally, the show’s Future Chemists Workshop helped inspire a record number of student participants.
“What excited us this year is looking at things and knowing that this show now has become such an integral part of everybody’s marketing and sales. It’s just such a key part of their initiatives in the U.S.,” Jane McDermott, Show Director of NYSCC Suppliers’ Day and Owner and President of ECMA LLC, said.

McDermott added that the industry’s post-pandemic recovery and effective collaboration with association partnerships — including a new partnership with Beauty Industry West — helped fuel this growth, reinforcing NYSCC Suppliers’ Day as the market’s dominant event in the U.S.

“This year, probably more so than any other year prior, we’ve really been able to capitalize on the fact that so much innovation was happening at our event,” McDermott shared.
In response to attendees’ demand for new products, a curated Inspiration Zone was added to the show floor. The beauty trend platform BEAUTYSTREAMS selected innovative exhibitor products to highlight, including natural skin, efficient and clean, and bio luxe ingredients.
“It allowed us to really showcase our exhibitors, and everybody had the opportunity to submit. It was at a very cost-effective price point,” McDermott explained.
“Whether you’re the guy in a 40 by 40 or you’re in a 10 by 10, you can submit a product into this, and you’re getting equal play. You saw that those that were chosen ran the gamut … it was exciting to give them that platform.”
According to McDermott, the inaugural Inspiration Zone received great attendee and exhibitor feedback, and will return and be expanded, for next year’s show.
Attendee trends also helped inspire another new addition to the show: The Suppliers’ Day Ingredient Maverick Award, which was chosen by four influencers.
“That’s just the way so many of our attendees are consuming information right now … and we want to make sure we take advantage of that,” McDermott said. “From an exhibitor standpoint, these are chemical companies. They’re not usually spoken about by influencers, so it was a huge deal for them. They were thrilled.”
Like the Inspiration Zone, this feature will also return and be expanded for 2025.
NYSCC Suppliers’ Day will return to the Javits Center from June 3-4, 2025.
“It is a very passionate group of people that drive this … it’s been fantastic,” McDermott said.
