A newly formed company will manage many of China’s automotive engineering trade shows, conferences and seminars, including the Shanghai International Automotive Manufacturing Technology & Materials Show (AMTS) and the co-located Assembly & Handling Technology Exhibition (AHTE).

The new company is Reed Exhibitions Hengjin, formed by a joint venture between Shanghai Forever Exhibitions and Reed Exhibitions, part of RELX group.

With China’s automotive engineering shows growing at a fast clip, the combined efforts of the two companies will strengthen its global reach.

“China is already an important market for Reed Exhibitions and we expect it to grow in importance with more acquisitions and launches,” said Julian Barker, Global Strategy Director of Reed Exhibitions. “Our events aim to support the growth and development of the Chinese economy and to bring new international buyers for Chinese goods and services.”

In 2018, AMTS and AHTE combined had roughly 100,000 gross sqm (1,076,391 sf) and more than 77,000 professional trade visitors – a 12% increase over 2017. The events also hosted 240 delegation groups from some of the top automotive manufacturers with the high-quality conference program.

The automotive manufacturing industry is a key piece of China’s economy, contributing to 11% of its GDP, said Michael Cheng, President of Reed Exhibitions Greater China.

James Wang will serve as General Manager of the new Reed Exhibitions Hengjin. He previously worked as Senior Director of Marketing & International Sales for Reed Exhibitions Greater China.

The next AMTS will be held July 3-6, 2019 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (http://www.shanghaiamts.com/en/),
