New Hall Adds More Space to Messe Frankfurt

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Frankfurt, Germany – Messe Frankfurt has opened its new Hall 11, adding another 23,000 square meters (247,570square feet) of exhibit space to the complex.

Hall 11 adjoins the new Portalhaus and provides a new entry vista to the west end of Messe Frankfurt.

“Visitors arriving from the motorway or car park will pass through the impressive Portalhaus entrance on their way to Hall 11, and thus the exhibition grounds,” said Michael von Zitzewitz, chairman of the board of management of Messe Frankfurt. “This means that a continuous transport route now passes through all of our exhibition halls.”

The new building also makes it possible for Messe Frankfurt to host two large trade shows simultaneously in the eastern and western sections of the campus.

Construction began in 2007 and was completed on time at a cost of around €170 million (approximately $240 million).

The new two-story hall made its exhibition debut September 17-27 when it housed BMW’s exhibits at the Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung (IAA) auto show. The new floor space made it possible for BMW Group to have the vehicles from all three of its brands – BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce – on display in the same building at IAA.
