Nancy Walsh Named President of Reed’s North America Operations

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Norwalk, CT – Nancy Walsh, who joined Reed Exhibitions 29 years ago in an entry-level sales position, was promoted on August 25 to president of Reed’s North American business.  She had been executive vice president, Reed Exhibitions North America.  She will continue to report to Chet Burchett, president, Americas.  Reed is the largest organizer of exhibitions worldwide.

Walsh was not immediately available for comment, but Burchett called her “uniquely prepared and qualified to lead the North American business.”  He said Walsh’s rise up the company ladder has given her an intimate understanding of Reed’s customers and their expectations; every facet of the business model; and the challenges and opportunities experienced by employees.

“Her commitment has been unwavering and her contributions to our customers, and to our business, has only grown,” Burchett said. “I fully expect that to continue in her new role.”

Walsh’s “unique” preparation for Mexico was in large part on-the-job moxie. She was responsible for leading Reed’s expansion in Mexico for the past few years and has seen the company’s portfolio grow to eight events held in Mexico City and Guadalajara. The shows serve diverse sectors such as construction, security and beauty.

In addition to Mexico, Walsh is also responsible for the U.S. market, which includes major shows such as JCK Las Vegas and the National Hardware Show. Reed runs more than 500 events worldwide in 42 countries.

She served on the board of directors of the Society of Independent Show Organizers (SISO). She was named a Trade Show Executive Leader & Legend  five years ago and was featured on the cover of TSE’s January 2009 edition and in a Power Lunch interview.
