NAB Nabs New York Communications Shows from JD Events

JOHN DOE, DIRECTOR OF EVERYTHING

Washington, DC – The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) announced the acquisition of two co-located shows in the communications sector from JD Events.

The deal included Content and Communications World (CCW) and Satellite Communications Conference and Expo (SATCON), which JD Events has held each November at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York.

Chris Brown, executive vice president of NAB conventions and business operations, said the two events and their East Coast location would complement the NAB’s current event portfolio, including its flagship event, The NAB Show, held in April in Las Vegas. “We have made these additions to the NAB event family with the goal of growing both the attendee and exhibitor base of what has emerged as an important East Coast venue for the content community,” Brown said.

The 2012 NAB Show was ranked 11th in the most recent Trade Show Executive Gold 100 with 813,801 net square feet (nsf) of exhibit space. The 2013 show grew 9.1% to 878,500 nsf.

JD Events already had built upward momentum for the two shows. Attendance at the combined events in 2012 grew 22% from the previous year to a record 6,898. “We believe the shows have now grown to the point where they require a larger more experienced owner, with much deeper industry reach and relationships, to take them to the next level,” said Joel Davis, founder and CEO of JD Events. “We are excited to place the future of CCW and SATCON into the very capable hands of the NAB.”
