MPI Names Michael Woody as its New COO

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Dallas, TX – Michael Woody will join Meeting Professionals International (MPI) in March as chief operations officer.

Woody is currently assistant executive director of the Grapevine Convention and Visitors Bureau in suburban Dallas. He will step into his new position March 23.

Woody will replace Cindy D’Aoust, who joined Cruise Lines International Association, Inc. as executive vice president late last year.

Woody will be responsible for the management of MPI events as well as marketing, professional development and business involving the local MPI chapters. The MPI has roughly 18,500 members with 70 chapters and clubs worldwide.

On the strategic front, he will oversee the development and execution of tactical business plans. “My focus will be on the core strength of education and on connecting planners and suppliers in unique and engaging ways that will increase the marketplace relevancy and value proposition for MPI members,” Woody said.

Woody will be ending  his second stint with the Grapevine CVB. He worked there from 1997 until 2005 when he joined American Airlines and ran the company’s custom publishing. He returned to the CVB in 2012.
