Strong Show Performance Amid Other Exciting Updates
While the MBCC underwent extensive transformation with its renovation and expansion that occurred from 2015-2020, the facility is continuing to stay up to date to meet the needs of organizers and visitors. Currently, there are ongoing investments across 22 projects for about $19 million, including upgrades to technology, infrastructure, safety and security, cybersecurity and the visitor experience.
On the security front, the MBCC is adding 41 new security cameras in the facility’s exhibit halls, bringing the total number of security cameras up to 564. An additional 165 new strobes will be added to the exhibit halls as well, doubling the current number. For technology upgrades, the MBCC is going to install large LED wall screens in the Grand Lobby, enhancing the visual impact of the space and opening up new advertising and sponsorship revenue opportunities.
When it comes to sustainability, the MBCC is also making strides, earning a 4 Green Keys rating from Green Key Global’s Meetings Program.
Along with ongoing upgrades at the MBCC, Miami Beach also recently broke ground on the Grand Hyatt Miami Beach, an 800-room, 17-story hotel that will connect to the convention center via a climate-controlled skybridge. The project has already secured $392 million in construction financing.

The hotel is expected to open in late 2027 and will also feature 52 suites, four floors of meeting and ballroom space, a restaurant and bar, a rooftop pool deck and retail. The dynamic development will help the MBCC attract larger-scale conventions and events, bolstering the city and region’s tourism and convention economy.
“The Miami Beach Convention Center continues to be the key economic catalyst for our meeting, trade show and events ecosystem,” said David Whitaker, President & CEO of the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau. “After recently undergoing a $640 million expansion and renovation leads and inquires from event planners and trade show executives have tripled. And with the official groundbreaking of the new 800 room on-campus and connected Grand Hyatt, the center has added more flexibility and availability to the equation.”
