SOUTH BARRINGTON, Ill. — eShow introduced eShow Kinective, an analytics and insights dashboard that tracks attendee behavior with the company’s new Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) and Near Field Communication (NFC) solutions.
John Dandeneau, Executive Vice President at eShow, explained that Kinective started with a conundrum the organization kept encountering: Events generate enormous amounts of data, but almost none of it gets used while it still matters.
“Organizers could tell you who registered, but the richest part, what attendees actually did once they arrived, was either invisible or buried in a post-event survey a handful of people completed,” Dandeneau explained. “Our investigation into the true value of RFID gave us the missing piece: real-world onsite behavior.
“But raw behavioral data wasn’t the goal. The industry has offered that for years, and it mostly created more work. The goal was to connect that behavior to everything an organizer already has and turn it into clear answers about what actually happened — the kind of evidence that shapes a smarter event the next time around. That intent is in the name: Kinective is about unlocking all the untapped potential energy stored in an event’s data into kinetic energy by building connective pathways that are missing today.”
How Kinective Works
eShow’s RFID/NFC chip is built directly into an attendee’s badge and matched to their record automatically as it prints. There is no extra step, and no slowdown at check-in. With the organization’s Express Check-In or Express Entry kiosks, attendees can get their badges in as little as five seconds.
Then, eShow’s technology monitors how they move through an event, collecting session attendance and dwell times, floor traffic, and booth and sponsor activation engagement.
This badge activity is put on the same eShow platform and database as registration, sessions, exhibits and sponsorship, meaning the Kinective dashboard can help organizers get the full picture of their event’s performance.
It flags major patterns, such as what sessions held the room with minimum abandonment, where the gaps were between what attendees intended and what they actually did, and what’s worth a closer look before the next event, and makes suggestions for what to do next.
According to Dandeneau, Kinective gives organizers something they’ve never been able to hand exhibitors and sponsors with confidence: proof of the engagement their investment actually generated.
“The most important thing is the quality of the evidence organizers walk away with,” Dandeneau explained. “Organizers don’t have to go hunting for those lessons. Kinective combines AI analysis, an AI-driven rules engine and AI-written narratives to surface what’s worth attention and bring it to the organizer, rather than making them dig through multiple dashboards to find it. The insight arrives as a conclusion (‘this room was over capacity every morning’) not a pile of reads to interpret.”
Dandeneau added that this is just the beginning of eShow’s analytics and insights offering, and said that everything on their roadmap is shaped by what organizers tell them they need.
“Because it all runs on a single platform, every new data point we add makes every existing insight sharper. The value compounds,” Dandeneau said. “That compounding is also why timing matters. The power deepens with year-over-year benchmarking — comparing this year’s event to last year’s with real behavioral data, not guesswork. The sooner an organizer starts capturing a baseline, the more valuable their second year becomes. Organizers who start now aren’t just first-to-value; they’re building the history that makes every future event smarter, easier to plan and easier to prove. It moves decisions from instinct to evidence.”
