McGuinness Leaving NYC & Company for Shopping Centers

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

New York, NY – Timothy McGuinness, executive director of NYC & Company and a former vice president of Reed Exhibitions, will join the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) as staff vice president of business development on June 2.  The ICSC’s largest event, RECon – The Global Retail Real Estate Convention, is setting up now and opens this weekend in Las Vegas. The show will span about 200,000 net square feet of exhibit space at the Las Vegas Convention Center and ICSC reports that over 25% of the industry’s annual retail real estate transactions are conceived or consummated during ReCon.  The association also produces the ICSC Retail Green Conference & Exposition in September in Addison, TX as well as events in London, Macau and other cities.

May 15 is McGuinness’ last day with NYC & Company, which is the marketing and tourism organization for New York. There was no immediate word from NYC & Company on who would replace McGuinness.

The ICSC, which is headquartered in New York, is an international trade association for the shopping center industry. It boasts 75,000 members worldwide including developers, investors and academics. “Needless to say I am thrilled with this new and incredible opportunity with this dynamic organization,” McGuinness said.

McGuinness was with NYC & Company for four years. He joined the marketing organization as vice president of sales and convention center expansion.

Prior to NYC & Company, McGuinness had spent 17 years with Reed Exhibitions and its predecessor Cahners Exposition Group. He rose to the rank of vice president of operations at Reed.
