IHA Changes the Name of International Home + Housewares Show

JAMIE BARTOSCH, SENIOR NEWS EDITOR

The International Home + Housewares Show is getting a new name.

Starting next year, the International Housewares Association (IHA) said it will change the name of its premier home and housewares show to The Inspired Home Show, IHA’s Global Home + Housewares Market.

The move follows IHA’s decision to expand their The Inspired Home consumer platform and follow the shifting consumer trend from functional home design to lifestyle development. The updated positioning will converge product suppliers, retailers and consumers through lifestyle branding.

IHA President Derek Miller said everything from the International Home + Housewares Show will remain, but new elements will be added to help product supplies and retailers meet consumer demand. It’ll have an updated look, similar to The Inspired Home consumer platform, along with lifestyle imagery and classic colors.

It also will continue to be a trade-only event, held at McCormick Place in Chicago, with a “five expos in one” format, including dine + décor, clean + contain, Discover Design and International Sourcing, and wired + well.

The International Home + Housewares Show has had its name for the past 15 years. Prior to that, until 2003, it was known as the “International Housewares Show.”

“Design and function are no longer the sole reasons people purchase housewares products,” Miller said. “The Inspired Home Show is taking things a step further to help retailers understand how design and function fit into their customers’ lifestyles and to find ways to inspire them to purchase products that compliment those lifestyles.”

The next show will be March 14-17, 2020, at McCormick Place in Chicago. The 2019 International Home + Housewares Show, held March 2-5, was sold out with more than 2,200 exhibitors representing more than 50 countries. Among the exhibitors, 400 new companies were exhibiting for the first time.
