IAEE’s Expo! Expo! Goes All Virtual

Sue Pelletier, Senior Editor

With COVID-19 resurging across the U.S. and around the world, the International Association of Exhibitions and Events today announced that it will be taking Expo! Expo!, which had been planned as a hybrid in-person and virtual event, solely virtual this year. The in-person event, which had been scheduled to take place Dec. 8–10 in Louisville, Ky., will not take place this year, said event organizers.

“Our board, staff and members were excited to take part in this annual, in-person event. However, in light of current health and safety concerns, the board has unanimously decided to transition this face-to-face event to a wholly virtual experience,” said IAEE Chairperson of the Board, Bob McLean CPA, CAE, CEM.

The virtual event, which will take place over the same dates, will feature multiple ways to network with other attendees and exhibitors through chats and messaging. Content — including case studies, product demos, and research papers — on more than 60 product and services categories will be available through a Buyer Resource Center. Participants also will be able to conduct business through an online exhibitor marketplace and will be able to network via virtual activations for Summit Club, Chapter Leaders, and newcomer orientations. IAEE is powering the virtual interactions via the Swapcard platform, said IAEE President and CEO, David DuBois, CMP, CAE, FASAE, CTA.

The educational portion will include 65 sessions in five tracks: virtual event production; wellness and personal development; young professionals; an executive experience; and the safe reopening of exhibitions and events. The prerecorded sessions will be augmented with live Q&A, includi

ng the IAEE Asia Forum. The three-day online event also will include seven BUZZ sessions and a general session on diversity, equity and inclusion by Ri

sha Grant. Other elements of the in-person show that will be translated to online include a Tech Theater, new product pitches, and a News and Views theater that will feature industry icon interviews.
