DALLAS — The International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) is breaking new ground in the Middle East with the launch of Expo! Expo! MENA, to be held in the fall of 2020 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The event will be hosted by the association’s Middle East and North Africa (MENA) chapter, which was relaunched earlier this year.

“Having just returned from a very productive two-day meeting in Abu Dhabi, I am pleased to report that there is much enthusiasm for the relaunch of the MENA chapter, as well as the upcoming Expo! Expo! MENA,” IAEE President and CEO David DuBois, CMP, CAE, FASAE, CTA told TSE. “It not only reflects upon the growth of exhibitions and events in the MENA region, but also the worldwide reach of the IAEE community as it connects buyers and sellers in a trusted platform for business exchange and learning.”

Modeled after IAEE’s annual meeting, Expo! Expo! MENA will consist of a general session, trade show and conference program that includes the association’s Certified in Exhibition Management (CEM) classes. Exact dates, venue and programming details have not yet been finalized.

“Expo! Expo! MENA will provide enhanced educational programming and networking for the MENA region,” said MENA Chapter Chairperson Bilal Al Barmawi, CEO and Managing Director of 1st Arabia Tradeshows & Conferences, a Saudi Arabian company specializing in organizing exhibitions and conferences in the region. “The Middle East is a market that desires international expertise that will increase the opportunities of the exhibition industry in the region, especially through the training and educational courses that will be put forward during the show.”

He told TSE that the IAEE MENA chapter “will be a qualitative leap in this region through the presence of major event organizing companies and exhibition centers. The chapter board will work closely to activate these types of professionals in the MENA region. And the chapter will be the center for meetings and exhibitions organizers in this region supported by workshops, training, and the participation of all members.”

Expo! Expo! MENA will be IAEE’s first event to be held outside the United States, noted IAEE’s Dubois. “By bringing the IAEE Expo! Expo! brand to the MENA region, we are filling a much-needed gap in this region by providing a trade show and conference that brings buyers and sellers together to conduct business and learn best practices in exhibition management.”
