TSE STAFF

Dallas – The International Association of Exhibitions and Events™ (IAEE) announced the recipients of its annual individual awards program who will be honored in Anaheim, Calif. at the Expo! Expo! Annual Meeting & Exhibition in December. The awards recognize members and member companies that have made exceptional contributions to the exhibitions and events industry.

Winners are:

  • Dennis Slater, President of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), who has 30+ years in the industry and with IAEE, will claim the Pinnacle Award for his efforts advancing exhibitions and event management through education, innovative developments and dedication to professionalism in the industry. He has helped AEM grow to 900 corporate members and annual revenue of $32 million. He is often called on to serve as a speaker or panelist at industry events, particularly about how he has developed best practices during his career. The Pinnacle Award itself was established to recognize extraordinary achievement in the industry in memory of William Hunt Eisenman, the late founder and past president of IAEE.
  • The Merit Award, which recognizes IAEE members for their contributions at the chapter/local level, will go to Bob Hancock, General Manager in Atlanta for onPeak and Dana Kirkhart, CEM, a Client Solutions Manager of Freeman.
  • The Bob Dallmeyer Educator of the Year Award will go to Al Lomas with Certified Consulting Service in recognition of his creativity, communication skills and innovative teaching methods that impact life-long learning for industry professionals. Lomas previously managed events at all the public facilities in San Antonio, Texas and has presented “Train the Trainer” classes to IAEE CEM faculty.
Volunteers are essential to nearly all associations, and this year the IAEE Volunteer of the Year award will go to Mindy Abel, Senior Vice President, Strategy & Development at Visit Anaheim for her efforts in meeting committee and task force objectives.

Other recipients will include Walter Yeh, Executive Vice President of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council, who will claim the Outstanding Achievement in Industry Leadership award; Jenn Ellek, Senior Director of Trade Marketing & Communications of the Washington, D.C.-based National Confectioners Association; and Feathr, a Gainesville, Fla.-based digital, cloud-based marketing platform that earns it the Outstanding Achievement for Innovation in Business Solutions Award.

IAEE also looks to the future with its Young Professional of the Year Award, which this year will go to Alex Land with the Trade Show Corporate & Association of the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority.
