IAEE and IAVM Join Forces on Education and Event Promotion

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Coppell, TX – The International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) entered into an alliance with the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM) for the cross-promotion of their respective networking and educational offerings.

The agreement also calls for the endorsement of each group’s respective certifications by the other. The IAEE offers the Certified in Exhibition Management (CEM) designation and IAVM issues the Certified Facilities Executive (CFM) designation.

The pact announced April 15 aligns two associations whose members work together on a regular basis toward the goal of producing successful trade shows and other events that prove beneficial to show organizers and convention center managers. The broad-based IAEE membership includes show organizers and service providers. IAVM has nearly 4,000 members from the venue-management field.

“Several areas have been identified where it makes sense for us to partner with one another,” said IAEE COO Cathy Breden.

The partnership got off to a fast start with the IAVM pledging to promote IAEE’s inaugural Women’s Leadership Forum. The conference takes place May 30 in Washington, DC. The two groups will also provide access to each other’s digital education offerings at reciprocal member registration rates.

“Many of IAVM’s goals and our basic mission overlap with IAEE’s,” said Vicki Hawarden, president and CEO of IAVM. “The opportunity to encourage IAEE’s members to participate in our educational and networking events will expand the…expertise found within both organizations’ memberships.”
