Summit for Information Security Officers Sells Out; Organizers Announce Second Show

SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass. — This spring’s Security Leadership Exchange isn’t until May 20, but event organizers haven’t wasted any time announcing a second show. Thanks to an overwhelming response to the conference being held next month in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., a second one has been added for the fall.

“We sold out within two months of announcing the [May] event,” said Philip McKay, President and CEO of nGage Events, which is producing the leadership exchange in conjunction with the MIS Training Institute (MISTI), an international leader in audit, IT audit, and information security training, with offices in Boston and London. “This has only happened twice in my career that I was able to sell out a show in the first half of the year, and we had such a demand to do this again.”

Scheduled for Sept. 23-25, 2018, at Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass in Phoenix, the three-day, white-glove event is part of the new Security Leadership Exchange Series, an invitation-only, hosted summit designed for Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) and security industry leaders to address the needs of CISOs as integral members of the C-suite. The peer-to-peer platform is intended to provide insight and information to help CISOs evolve in their roles from technologist to strategist in a unique and intimate format that includes presentations on privacy and security, small group discussions with networking opportunities, and one-on-one conversations with peers.

McKay anticipates the fall event will sell out, sales begin April.

“The ability to launch not just a single event, but instead create a series of events is a testament to the complementary strengths and capabilities of both MISTI and nGage Events to serve the CISO community,” said MISTI President and CEO Tony Keefe, in a news release.

The roster of CISOs attending May’s Security Leadership Exchange include 75 members of enterprise-level companies including AARP, Aetna, Aflac, Allergan, AXA Partners, Charter Communications, Comcast, Federal Reserve, Hearst and more. Meanwhile, the September event is already shaping up with McKesson Senior Vice President and Global CISO Spencer Mott and Aetna Vice President and CISO Kurt Lieber committing to keynote addresses.

“There have been so many breaches, and there really are so many solutions, and these CISOs need to find solutions because it’s only going to get worse,” said McCay. “We were able to put together an incredible agenda that is packed with experienced CISOs who can add their thoughts and processes and have already been able to get through some of these serious breaches. When we combine the strength of MISTI’s knowledge and relationships in the information security market with nGage’s proven hosted buyer event expertise, the Security Leadership Exchange series offers the premier opportunity to help the CISO community evolve, network and engage with their peers.”
