Honoring TSE’s Regina McGee

Frances Ferrante

Regina McGeeCHICAGO — A beloved former member of the Trade Show Executive team and familiar face in the business events industry for more than 30 years, Regina McGee passed away on June 3 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Regina started her journey at Trade Show Executive as Editor-at-Large in 2016, then went on to become a Senior Editor. In June of 2020, her article, “Women to Watch,” which appeared in the December 2019 issue, took home both Gold Regional and Bronze National Azbee Awards from the American Society of Business Publication Editors.

Regina’s writing graced the pages of many other industry magazines as well, from her start at Successful Meetings in 1988 to years at Association Meetings, PCMA’s Convene, Collinson Media and Conference Direct’s Meeting Mentor. Her journalism career began at Penn State University, where she graduated with honors.

A talented poet, Regina was a member of the Louise Bogan chapter of the Massachusetts State Poetry Society. She has resided for the past 20 years in Lunenburg, Mass, where she leaves behind her husband of 24 years, John Cochran, and their two children, Madeline and William. Regina was passionate about travel, literature, spirituality, being near the water, her friends and, most of all, her family.

“This is a great loss to the TSE family,” Gabrielle Weiss, Vice President and Editor-in-Chief, Trade Show Executive, said. “Regina was a gifted writer and consummate team player, who always brought great ideas to the table and made people comfortable when she was interviewing them. She was a humble spirit and I am very glad I got to work with her. She leaves behind a great legacy, and our thoughts are with her loved ones. May her memory be a blessing.”

Donations may be made in Regina’s memory to the Virginia Thurston Healing Garden in Harvard, Mass.
