Vernon Hills, IL – Former top show executive Heidi Voorhees joined the housing, registration and event planning firm Experient as a senior vice president in charge of housing sales and operations.
Voorhees was previously vice president of meetings and events and vice president of strategic initiatives with the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), organizers of the IFT Annual Meeting + Food Expo and a portfolio of other events. Her prior experience included a stint as convention manager for SmithBucklin Corporation.
“Heidi’s depth of experience, leadership acumen and track record of success are exactly what our company needs for its next phase of growth,” said Shawn Pierce, president of the Registration and Housing Division at Experient. “The meetings and event industry is ripe for unified registration and housing technologies backed by an organization with strong leadership.”
The housing department at Experient is in the midst of structural changes focusing on client retention and growth, and the increased adoption of housing services by registration clients. The company said 60% of its housing clients used Experient for registration as well. By contrast, 30% of registration clients make use of Experient’s housing services.
Voorhees replaced Ken Romeo, who left the company after more than 21 years. Voorhees’ duties at the IFT were assumed by Christine Klein, another veteran of the exhibition industry, who joined the association in May as vice president of meetings and business partnerships.
