GES Acquires Ethnometrics; Will Offer Value-Added Service to Show Organizers

HIL ANDERSON, SENIOR EDITOR

Las Vegas, NV – GES Exposition Services, Inc. has acquired Ethnometrics Corp., a Michigan firm that specializes in analyzing crowd behavior and traffic flow at retail establishments, trade shows and other large events.

Ethnometrics provides an in-depth analysis of trade show operations while they are in progress, said Ethnometrics Vice President Martin Smith. The company makes extensive use of overhead cameras to monitor activity on the exhibit floor, registration desks, common areas and conference rooms. The imagery is used to measure the efficiency of the overall operation as well as specific items, such as how audiences respond to speakers, the interaction of attendees with booth and show staffs, and what characteristics of a particular exhibit appeal to attendees.

The deal will enable show managers to go through GES to gather in-depth data on how well their exhibit floor functions and recommend changes that will make their events run smoother.

“The acquisition of Ethnometrics strengthens GES’ commitment to our strategic partnerships by offering our clients pro-active advice and guidance, and enabling exhibitors to get more from their exhibition experience,” said Kevin Rabbit, president and CEO of GES.
