From Social Shares to Sign-Ups: How Snöball Drives Measurable Event Growth

MONTREAL — Every Friday in February 2026, we are highlighting an event technology from this month’s print Tech Trek. Our fourth spotlight is on Snöball

Social media has long played a role in event promotion, but measuring its direct impact has often been difficult. Snöball changes that equation by turning attendees, speakers and exhibitors into measurable growth drivers.

Through Snöball’s peer-to-peer marketing solution, event advocates share personalized, trackable invitations that convert interest into registrations. Organizers gain full visibility into how their community contributes to growth, with clear attribution across shares, clicks and confirmed sign-ups.

Snöball turns attendees, speakers and exhibitors into measurable growth drivers.

This measurable impact is supported by a structured campaign framework designed to make sharing seamless and scalable. Snöball’s dedicated campaign managers use event branding and messaging to create optimized marketing assets, manage campaign execution and continuously refine performance.

Organizers maintain full oversight while Snöball handles campaign delivery and optimization.

“Clients approve campaigns before they go live,” explained Snöball Founder and CEO Rachel Stephan. “They provide their branding and guidelines, and we execute and optimize the campaign on their behalf.”

This hands-on approach also creates long-term value. As campaigns repeat year over year, Snöball builds institutional knowledge around each event’s audience and performance patterns.

“We’ve worked with many clients for multiple years, which gives us a deep understanding of their audience and what drives results,” Stephan said. “Having a dedicated campaign manager ensures those learnings are applied each year, improving performance over time while maintaining a strong baseline.”

Robust Metrics Highlight True Impact

Snöball’s analytics go beyond engagement metrics to provide clear attribution tied to registrations.

Snöball’s analytics provide clear attribution tied to registrations.

“Our analytics show not just traffic, but actual sign-ups driven by referrals,” Stephan said. “A conversion occurs when someone shares, another person clicks and that person completes registration. That level of attribution is essential for organizers evaluating marketing performance.”

This data helps organizers identify their most effective advocates, including exhibitors who directly drive attendee acquisition.

“It’s important for organizers to recognize and reward their top performers,” Stephan noted.

Across campaigns, Snöball reports an average share-to-registration conversion rate of 31.9%, with top-performing events reaching 53.7%.

Snöball also tracks which platforms drive the strongest results. Advocates can share across 17 social and private messaging channels, including LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Slack, Teams, SMS and Messenger.

Benchmark data reveals a critical insight: LinkedIn accounts for approximately 34.8% of peer-driven shares, while private messaging channels collectively account for 32.6%.

“When you combine private channels like WhatsApp, SMS, Teams and Slack, their contribution is nearly equal to LinkedIn,” Stephan said. “This helps organizers understand where their audience actually engages and where to focus their marketing investments.”

Built for Integration and Modern Event Tech Stacks

Snöball integrates with more than 70 event and marketing technology platforms, allowing referral data to flow directly into registration systems and marketing workflows.

The company’s recently launched Public API expands that flexibility even further.

“Our Public API enables organizers to activate community-driven growth within the systems they already use,” Stephan said. “Peer-to-peer performance becomes part of their broader event infrastructure, not a separate layer.”

Beyond Registration Growth

While peer-to-peer marketing is often associated with attendee acquisition, organizers are increasingly applying it across multiple initiatives, including:

  • Call-for-speaker campaigns
  • Exhibitor promotion
  • Membership growth
  • Awards programs
  • Lead generation
  • Onsite activations
  • Post-event engagement

Across each use case, the core principle remains consistent: structured, community-driven promotion that is measurable, scalable and repeatable.
