Tucson, AZ– After successful expansion efforts throughout Latin America, Focus Media SA is now entering the U.S. market with plans for a hosted buyer series of events in the U.S. The company also plans to launch traditional trade shows in the U.S.
These events will operate under the name Focus Media Events LLC (FME), a subsidiary of Focus Media SA. It is a partnership between Focus Media and Steve Sind, president and CEO of Global Event Strategies. Nancy Largay will serve as general manager for U.S. events. She was previously with UBM Channel and Reed Exhibitions.
FME was established in the U.S. to operate the company’s business outside of Argentina. Focus Media is one of the leading organizers of B-to-B events in South America, producing 10 hosted buyer summits, three trade shows, and four training workshops in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela. The company was founded in 1993 by Diego Kaplan and Arturo Cuestas who built a portfolio of market-leading events. The longest running event is now in its 24th edition.
FME’s first U.S. hosted buyer event will be the U.S. Security100Summits K-12, which is scheduled for December 3-5 at the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort in Tucson. With heightened awareness in K-12 safety and security, FME said there’s an overwhelming need for a focused summit to take a strategic look at current challenges, identify solutions, and gain an edge on future trends. Two other hosted buyer events are in the works for 2015, according to Sind.
