CHICAGO — In the March 2026 edition of Trade Show Executive (TSE), Caitlin Fox, President at mdg, shared what five attendee acquisition strategies would be hot in 2026. Now, as the industry enters the fourth quarter of the year, TSE revisited those predictions to see the results of those strategies from shows that employed them for this year’s edition.

Hyper-Personalized Journeys

The Prediction: Custom event suggestions, segmented content, dynamic outreach tailored to behaviors and intent

In Action: While OFC 2026 saw a 22% lift in total attendance year over year, the team behind the growth also focused on increasing the quality of the attendees through tailored messaging to high-value audiences based on topics and features that would most likely appeal to them based on their role and responsibilities.

“Because of [our] wide-ranging audience base, our high-level marketing approach remains fairly generalized. We augment this high-level approach with tailored messaging and content that targets specific audience segments and their associated interests,” OFC Management said.

AI-Augmented Audience Engines

The Prediction: Tools that anticipate the right audience, score intent, optimize budget allocation and streamline campaign workflows

In Action: The team behind Data Center World has leveraged the AI-powered capabilities of Oracle’s Eloqua to enhance audience targeting, intent scoring and campaign optimization to help the team deliver more personalized and data-driven campaigns to its audience.

Among the marketing responsibilities the team uses Eloqua for are predictive lead scoring and propensity modeling; AI-driven send time optimization; intelligent engagement governance and fatigue management; and streamlined campaign workflows.

Sherbrooke Balser, Senior Director of Marketing, Enterprise Technology Group at Informa, shared the tool also helps with driving the buying cycle for Data Center World.

“Eloqua’s AI capabilities have been pivotal in guiding prospects through the buying journey, from initial awareness to registration and beyond,” Balser said.

The results speak for themselves: Data Center World 2026 saw attendance grow 45.9% year-over-year, and overall, the show had a blended growth rate of 34.4%, according to TSE data.

Influencer and Peer Stories

The Prediction: Authentic content from industry voices that translates community energy into tangible reasons to register

In Action: Offerings and success stories from community-marketing solutions like Gleanin and Snöball showcase the power of word-of-mouth marketing. According to TSE’s February Tech Trek report, Snöball reports an average share-to-registration conversion rate of 31.9%.

Independent organizers and associations alike, from RX to IMEX to the Consumer Technology Association®, are homing in on making it easy to share influencer and peer stories to help generate FOMO and registrations.

Ongoing Digital Community Touchpoints

The Prediction: Engagement that exists outside of the event cycle, like forums, micro-events and mentorship circles

In Action: One organization that is making a point to keep its audience connected between its event dates is the Cybersecurity Marketing Society, which produces CyberMarketingCon, CyberCMO Summit and CyberCEO Summit.

The society’s roots are as a digital community founded in 2020. What was a Slack channel of 10 people has grown into a 4,400-strong member-based community.

“In marketing, you have to be omni-channel. We just hosted a webinar today where they were talking about having to be across multiple channels — your member, or anyone’s buyer, has their attention spread across so many channels now. For us, we have newsletters, we have our Slack, we have our LinkedIn, we have our socials. We’re going to do a TikTok eventually. Those are the digital things. And then in-person events — either us attending or us hosting, because we also do regional events now — these are accelerators,” said Gianna Whitver, Co-Founder of the Cybersecurity Marketing Society, in an interview with TSE.

When the society launched its first in-person event in 2022, 218 people bought tickets. Its 2026 CyberMarketingCon is expecting to see more than 700 attendees in Austin, Texas, this November.

Real-Time Insight Loops

The Prediction: Feedback and signals captured from the audience that quickly informs creative, channel and messaging shifts

In Action: The team behind the National Restaurant Association Show stayed close to the data they collected through their marketing campaigns to adjust strategies in real time.

As the team saw high interest from specific domestic regions but low registration rates, they were able to execute a geotargeted campaign that led to a significant rise in registrations in key states identified.

The team also noticed that email open rates were more than 40% when the email topic focused on educational topics at the show. That observation led the team to increase its educational themes in its paid and organic channels and focus on personalized partner emails, which resulted in tripled registration conversions.
