San Antonio — FreemanXP Vice President Dan McKinnon officially took over as Chairperson of the International Association of Exhibitions and Events Board of Directors on the day before the opening of IAEE’s annual Expo! Expo! in San Antonio.
McKinnon, Vice President, Client Solutions – Global at FreemanXP, succeeded 2017 Chairperson Ryan Strowger, who remains on the board as Immediate Past Chairman. Prior to joining Freeman in 2014, McKinnon was Vice President of Events for the Energy & Engineering Group at Access Intelligence.
“I am honored for the opportunity to apply my years of experience as both a show organizer and supplier partner to the greater good of the industry,” McKinnon said. “I am eager to continue the great work of those who came before me and look forward to an outstanding year.”
The focus of McKinnon’s duties will be promoting the benefits of face-to-face meetings.
Thomas Cindric Jr., Senior Vice President, Informa Global Exhibitions, Infrastructure Events, was named Chairperson-elect for the year. The Board of Directors also welcomed four new members:
- Carrie Ferenac, President, CNTV (Convention News Television)
- Chuck Grouzard, Executive Vice President, Exhibition Sales, GES
- Justine McVaney, Senior Vice President Event Planning & Operations, National Association of Broadcasters
- Janet Sperstad, Program Director, Meeting and Event Management, Madison College
Expo! Expo! runs Nov. 28-30 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio.
